Our Maine Coon Cat

Ricky

"PLAY HARD, SLEEP HARD"

This is Ricky's motto on life.

Ricky, the PLAYER

Ricky is going to be a top class soccer player and is in full training!
Anything 'round' falls into his prey, from large marbles to soft tennis size balls. He has a real advantage being able to use all 4 legs and easily out-manoeuvres our 2 boys.
In our house, if it rolls, it's got Ricky right behind it.

Ricky, the SLEEPER

Ricky does a lot of sleeping and his favourite position is stretched out full on his side with his front paws stretched out as far as possible in front. He dosen't seem to care if this means one end of him or the other, is hanging over the end of where ever he has chosen to sleep. This means he often falls off the chair, table, etc, when he sleepily stretches too far! Then he sits there defying anyone to suggest he didn't mean to get down himself!!!

Ricky, the HUNTER
br>Ricky is an incredibly keen hunter. He stalks, pounces, leaps, chases, watches, and never, never misses anything. His eyes follow everything that moves or makes a sound. Everything is to be investigated and EVERYTHING is potential prey, from shadows to actual objects. We can no longer walk or sit around in socks, without shoes, or carry anything with strings or tassles hanging down. When sitting down if anyone makes the slighest move you can almost guarantee to be pounced on.
He is incredibly fun to watch and play with. His hilarious antics keep us entertained all day!

Ricky's Name

There is a story behind Ricky's name!

My husband has been humming and singing a tune he has "stuck in his head" for about 6 years now, driving us mad at times.

The song comes from the Barney (the Dinnosaur)show which my husband watched one day with our (then) toddlers. I don't know what the song is called but it is about 'Ricky Racoon'.

A line in the song goes "Rick, Rick, Ricky.......Ricky Racoon", and this is what my husband sings over and over and over (you get the idea) every now and then.

With our cat's beautiful dark 'racoon like' tail, it was decided by our family that "Ricky" was an appropriate name.
